Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.
Opportunity
We are hiring for a Full-time Personal Support Worker position for midnight shifts in Toronto, ON
Starting Wage: $18.58/hour. Plus: $3.00/hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients (does not apply to training or paid leave)
Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: (11:00pm – 7:00am) Sunday - Thursday
Location: 22 McCaul, Toronto, ON
Roles and responsibilities
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will assist individuals in their activities of daily living, in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies.
• Personal care (grooming, hygiene, bathing, etc.)
• Lifts and transfers
• Rising and retiring routines
• Bowel and bladder procedures
• Meal preparation and feeding
• Range of motion exercises
• Light housekeeping
• Performing duties in a respectful, professional manner that maintains dignity, privacy, and health & safety
Qualifications and experience
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required to travel to and from client homes)
• Grade 12 diploma and/or PSW certificate
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment)
• Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities
• Understanding of Independent Living or Client-Based Care models
• Knowledge of transferring, lifting, and bowel/bladder routines
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills
• Physical demands self-assessment required upon hire
• Professionalism in dealing with team members and service providers
• Mental health and behavior management experience is an asset
• Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
• Willingness to work flexible and scheduled hours, including weekends and evenings
