Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.
The opportunity:
We are currently looking to fill the following position, with first consideration given to the Inuit workforce:
- One Full time Community Support Supervisor in Iqaluit, Nunavut
Responsibilities:
· Plan and implement programs to enhance the efficiency and safe delivery of Community Support Services (CSS) for up to 8 clients in a shared living environment.
· Manage and approve program resources, both human and financial, to meet objectives.
· Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate support service staff within a pre-determined budget, in accordance with March of Dimes Canada approved program plans.
· Monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness and implement improvements as needed.
· Participate in planning, problem resolution, quality improvement, and service delivery performance reviews as a member of the CSS Management Team.
· Monitor and manage annual budgets, performing periodic variance analysis for review with the CSS Program Manager/Regional Director.
· Supervise and support frontline staff during shifts, ensuring quality care and adherence to organizational policies.
· Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
· Ensure client care plans are followed, maintaining a person-centered approach to service delivery.
· Conduct regular check-ins, debriefings, and performance evaluations with staff.
· Manage shift schedules, ensuring appropriate staffing levels without incurring unnecessary overtime.
· Assist in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and incident reporting as needed.
· Maintain clear and professional communication with management, staff, and stakeholders.
· Uphold and promote Inuit cultural values and traditions in service delivery.
Qualifications and experience:
· Degree or Diploma in Human Services/Social Services.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within social services, healthcare, or a related field.
· Community-based experience working with individuals with physical disabilities/seniors.
· Experience working with Inuit communities and a strong understanding of Inuit culture, traditions, and values.
· Demonstrated experience supervising or leading teams.
· Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
· Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
· Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
· Knowledge of behavior management principles.
· Understanding of mental health and addictions.
· Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation.
· General knowledge of computer hardware and software.
· Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism and care.
· Knowledge of trauma-informed care and person-centered approaches.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and documentation/reporting systems.
· Must pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
· Certification or diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, or a related field is preferred
· Fluency in Inuktitut is a strong asset.
· First Aid/CPR certification is preferred
· ASIST is preferred
· Non-Crisis Violent Intervention is preferred
