The opportunity

The Advocacy & Community Engagement Assistant supports the development and delivery of initiatives within March of Dimes Canada’s (MODC) Disability Advocacy Network—a national community of people with disabilities and allies. This role contributes to building an inclusive, accessible, and engaging network by supporting program design, member engagement, and the development of advocacy resources

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of new program offerings for the Disability Advocacy Network.
  • Assist in exploring and evaluating digital tools and strategies to enhance member connection and engagement within an accessible online environment.
  • Develop engagement strategies that welcome new Service Users, keeping them actively involved, and tailoring content to their interests and advocacy priorities
  • Support the development and delivery of tools, resources, and learning opportunities that strengthen advocacy skills, in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Support with additional tasks and projects as required.
     

Qualifications and experience

  • Completion of at least the second year of an undergraduate or college program required
  • Bachelor’s or college degree in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional communications and written skills     
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities effectively  
  • Ability to work in a team or independently  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Salary:  $20.00 per hour

Important Details

Start Date: June 1, 2026

Duration: 8 weeks

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment 
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment 
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to
  • Work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. 

Note: International students are not eligible participants.
