Skills Development and Employment ensures that people with disabilities find and keep meaningful jobs by matching them with employers seeking qualified job candidates. In addition, they offer support with assessments, rehabilitation and child and youth programs.
The opportunity
The Instructor/Content Creator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of learners in the Skills Development & Employment programs. This role focuses on evaluating current content, creating and sourcing new content, providing tailored support to learners, facilitating accessibility, and enhancing their overall learning experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, inclusion, and technology, as well as a strong commitment to fostering equitable opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Learner Support
- Conduct detailed training needs assessments for all learners and provide one-on-one support to address learning needs as required
- Assist learners in developing digital skills through personalized guidance, troubleshooting, and encouragement.
- Facilitate virtual group workshops/cohorts across a range of topics
- Coordinates the scheduling and enrollment for instructor-led training
- Monitor and track learner progress, identifying and addressing barriers to success.
- Build positive, supportive relationships to foster learner confidence and engagement.
- Collaborate with the program team to design and implement accommodations (e.g., assistive technologies, alternative formats).
- Advocate for learner needs and provide feedback to improve program accessibility.
- Offer additional coaching and tutoring to learners requiring extra assistance.
- Contribute to program evaluations by providing feedback on learner experiences and outcomes.
- Work closely with the program team to ensure a seamless learner experience.
Content Creation/Sourcing
- Design and develop engaging, high-quality instructional materials including manuals, guides, e-learning modules, and toolkit
- Review and validate content for technical accuracy and platform compatibility.
- Maintaining training content repositories and supporting version control and updates
- Source new content based on emerging digital skills trends
- Supports with organizing the Learning Management System by deploying and managing new content and supporting learner access in the system.
- Ensure accessibility and inclusion best practices are embedded in all learning operations and content delivery
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and experience
- A clear Criminal Record Check and/or Vulnerable Sector Check are required
- Post-secondary education in social work, education, disability studies, or a related field is required.
- Bilingual (English and French) is mandatory
- 1 – 3 years of experience supporting adult learners virtually, preferably in digital skills or professional development programs is required.
- Familiarity with accessibility principles and assistive technologies is an asset.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of and ability to use various digital tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, LinkedIn Learn).
- Experience with e-learning authoring tools is considered an asset
- Experience in content creation is required with a passion for learning, teaching, and helping others grow.
- Ability to design innovative and effective learning solutions for various audiences
- Patience, empathy, and a solution-focused approach to supporting individuals with diverse learning needs.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or other equity-deserving groups is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a high degree of autonomy
Salary: $56,632 per annum
