Skills Development and Employment ensures that people with disabilities find and keep meaningful jobs by matching them with employers seeking qualified job candidates. In addition, they offer support with assessments, rehabilitation and child and youth programs. 

The opportunity

  • The Program Assistant will work with the Program Team and learners to coordinate mentoring opportunities.
  • Develop matching strategies based on interests, skills, and intended mentorship outcomes.
  • Ensure the mentorship experience is accessible, engaging, and impactful.
  • Work alongside the Regional Manager and Program Team to facilitate strong mentor-mentee connections.
  • The ideal candidate has program coordination experience, a passion for professional development, and a commitment to inclusion and equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Match program participants with mentors based on interests, career goals, and accessibility needs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for mentors and participants throughout the mentorship process.
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure productive and respectful mentor-mentee relationships.
  • Organize training sessions and provide resources for mentors on effective mentoring practices, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion.
  • Track mentorship progress and gather feedback from mentors and participants.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and provide regular reports to the Manager.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the mentorship experience and implement improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align mentorship activities with broader program goals.
  • Promote the mentorship program through various channels to recruit mentors and raise awareness.

Qualifications:

  • Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required upon hire.
  • Post-secondary education in human resources, education, social work, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • 1 – 3 years of experience coordinating mentorship, volunteer, or professional development programs.
  • Knowledge of accessibility principles and experience supporting individuals with disabilities is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to engage and support diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with digital tools such as Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of participants and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Familiarity with challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in the workplace is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work remotely.
