Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.
The opportunity
Known internally as Support Service Attendants, we have 2 Part-time opportunity in Northeast Region at 277A Northern Ave. E., Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Flexible schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Hours: This position is up to 32 hours per week.

Starting wage: $21.40 per hour, inclusive of the $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
Responsibilities

Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:

Personal care

Lifts and Transfers
-
Rising/retiring
-
Bowel and bladder procedures
-
Meal preparation and feeding
-
Range of motion exercises
-
Other light housekeeping duties
-
Perform duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
Qualifications and experience
-
High School graduate or equivalent
-
Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
-
Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living or Client Based Care
- Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
-
Good interpersonal and communication skills
-
Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
-
Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Important details
March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its clients. Support Services Attendants work a variety of shifts (i.e., work days, evenings, nights, and weekends) that may vary between locations.
