Skills Development and Employment ensures that people with disabilities find and keep meaningful jobs by matching them with employers seeking qualified job candidates. In addition, they offer support with assessments, rehabilitation and child and youth programs.
The opportunity
Job Developer/Employment Counsellor to join our team as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist – Employer and Client Coordinator in London, ON. In this full-time role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers, working closely with employers to secure meaningful employment opportunities and support individuals through every step of the job placement process. With a salary of $56,181 and 35 hours per week, this position is ideal for someone with a background in job development, employer outreach, and recruitment who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with employers across various industries and act as the main contact for job orders.
- Maintain effective communication with employers, ensuring all records are up to date.
- Document employer needs to aid the Employment Services (ES) team in preparing clients for job matches.
- Collaborate with the MODC ES team to match clients with employment opportunities and ensure placement support.
- Negotiate job opportunities and wage subsidies as needed.
- Create on-the-job training plans for clients if required.
- Provide follow-up support to employers, including check-ins and accommodation support.
Qualifications and experience
- 1 to 3 years of experience in job development, employer outreach, marketing, recruitment, and screening.
- Sensitivity to issues faced by people with disabilities.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Effective negotiation, communication, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of current labor market trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
- Ability to document, maintain records, and assist in report preparation.
- French communication skills are an asset.
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
